Punk rock group, Joan Jett (a Philadelphia native) and the Blackhearts have been around for a long, long time and are still going strong. The band first formed in the early 80's. Androgynous comes from the Sinner album, released in 2006.



Besides recording music, Joan has been on both the big and little screens as well as Broadway. Of note is her Broadway performance in The Rocky Horror Picture Show as the character, Columbia (from Wikipedia).

The song was first performed by The Replacements and written by Paul Westerberg, who did vocals and guitar for that group. It appeared on their Let It Be album.

Crash Test Dummies featured Androgynous on their 1991 album, The Ghosts That Haunt Me.
